Commission: Open Up Online Gambling

Online gambling regulation could be on the way in Australia following the release of an official report recommending an end to state monopolies on licenses. The report on land-based and online gambling, released last week by the federal government's Productivity Commission, recommended that "state governments not renew retail wagering licenses when most of them expire between 2012 and 2016. The Commission also estimated in the study that the global turnover on online gambling is around $16.6 billion and that the industry employs around 145,000 people around the world. Meanwhile, the federal government has commissioned a separate study into the impact that online, telephone and digital television gambling have on problem gamblers. Australian online gambling laws are currently unclear, with government-licensed providers Tatts and Tabcorp the only license holders to provide services to Australians. Tatts provides betting services as UniTAB in Queensland, the Northern Territory and South Australia, worth around A$130 million a year, while TABCorp holds licenses for the more lucrative Victorian and New South Wales markets, worth around A$252 million in 2009. Because of the restrictive rules, most Aussies actually use offshore providers, where they will spend an estimated $1 billion in 2010.

Coalition Pledges to Help Problem Gamblers

The Coalition has made problem gambling a key platform in the last few days before the Victorian state election, promising to set up a body to tackle the issue if it is elected to form government. Paying for Protection The proposed Victorian Responsible Gambling Foundation would cost $150 million over four years and would be tasked with researching and administering support for service for addicted gamblers. Labor recently promised to provide an extra $125 million in funding for problem gamblers if voters return it to government in the November 27 election, but Coalition gaming spokesman Michael O'Brien said the opposition's proposal would ensure more transparency. "This new and independent body will have its own legislative mandate," O'Brien said, adding that the problem with placing the issue under government control was that the government was conflicted by its own need for gambling revenue. Gambling on the Ballot Gambling is a huge industry in Victoria, where its taxes account for some 10% of the state's tax revenue. It is therefore no surprise that gambling has again been one of the prominent issues in this current election campaign, along with other timely issues such as cleaning up government advertising and corruption, and fixing problems in government schools. The election looked set to go down to the wire just days out from voting, with Coalition leader Ted Baillieu trailing Labour's John Brumby by a narrow margin in the polls.

Try Casino King for Top Arcade Games

The choice of games can sometimes be overwhelming, but if old school arcade games are your favourite, then try out Casino King. For some people, it isn’t an online casino without the traditional card and table games such as roulette, blackjack and craps.  But for some, it’s the classic arcade games that really give them a buzz.  If so, look no further than Casino King.  Each and every one of the arcade games available is a top quality production.  Not only are they easy and quick to download, but the graphics are sharp and clear and superbly displayed.  Most importantly, they are easy and fun to play and unlike some online games, they can be learnt in a matter of minutes. None more so than Genie’s Hi Lo.  The task is simple.  Just predict whether the next card will be higher or lower than the card already on display and you are a winner.  You can land yourself a bonus if you also correctly guess the colour of the next card to be dealt.  It’s a simple, fun game which will not only keep players amused, but potentially line their pockets.> Equally easy to play are Keno and Pop Bingo.  Both games simply require the player to pick numbers bingo-style and if they come up, then it could result in a massive payout.  It’s as simple as that. However, the jewel in the crown of Casino King’s selection of arcade games is probably Derby Day.  This is about as entertaining a horse racing simulation game as you will find.  Pick the horse that you think will win and you will be transported to a beautifully animated horse racing track.  Once the race is underway, that is when the excellent sound effects come into play.  Not only will you appreciate the noise of the crowd, but also the exciting commentary as the race progresses.  If your horse is a winner, then you will pocket a great cash prize.
