Slots Guide
History
Slot machines have been in existence for over 100 years, when the first machine was created by an American by the name of Charles Fey. Fey’s machine was a mechanical contraption that displayed a selection of different playing card symbols as well as an icon of the famous Liberty bell.
Since Fey's day, slot machines, or one armed bandits, have become a familiar sight in the land based and online casino scene. Originally called one armed bandits due to the fact that they could bankrupt you on the spot, even if they only had one arm, these machines have moved into the electronic age with a vengeance.
Objective
The objective of all slot machines is to feed your money or tokens into the machine in order to hit the jackpot. Of course, many people will say that they play the games just for the sake of playing, which is probably the ultimate objective of any game.
Progressive jackpots
One exciting feature added to most modern slot machines is the progressive jackpot. This is an accumulated total that keeps on growing until some lucky individual wins the top prize. Progressive jackpot machines have been responsible for huge wins in casinos in Las Vegas, in gambling centres around the world and online.
Skill stops
Yet another new feature of casino slot machines is the skill stop. This enables players to nudge the reels forward for a specific number of slots until a winning line is displayed. This feature was first created in the 1970s, but is now a standard feature on most modern slot machines.
