Roulette Guide

Certainly the most glamorous of all the casino games, roulette is considered the elegant game of choice in most casino halls.

History
Roulette translates as little wheel and originated, like so many other casino games, in France in the 1700s. Originally popular among the French aristocracy, who had little else to do with their time other than play games.

Roulette gathered a following right across Europe where it was then shipped over to the United States. The European and American games are virtually identical except that the American wheel contains one extra slot for a double zero.

Object of the game

The object of the game of roulette couldn’t be simpler. Just decide in advance into which slot a bouncing ball is going to land following a spin of the roulette wheel, place your bet and watch your winnings mount up. Of course, it’s not that simple. Predicting where the little ball might land is a complete matter of chance, with no skill involved whatsoever.

Betting
While there can be no skill involved in determining where the roulette ball will land, there is some element of skill involved in where to place your bets. Roulette offers a range of betting options from whether the lucky number will be a red or black, odd or even, between 0 to 18 or 19 to 36, and so on.

Players can place multiple bets, such as a red number that is also even; or a number between 0 to 18 that is also within the first dozen numbers. By careful cross betting, players can enhance their chances of winning.

Roulette systems
There are many roulette systems on the market, but the best bet is to avoid them all. There is no failsafe system, otherwise casinos would go out of business and that has yet to happen. The fall of the ball is totally random each time the wheel spins, and there is no point in counting numbers, or marking them off on a score sheet.

Roulette is a pure game of chance, so place your bets, and test your luck. The one piece of advice we can supply is to avoid the US table, and go for the European one which offers a slightly higher chance of your number coming up.
